Arianna Occhipinti SP 68 Bianco, Sicily Italy 2016
By now you know my admiration and love for Arianna and her wines. To smell this wine is to be in Sicily; voluptuous ripe fruit, a complex intermingling of herbs and flowers, the golden-pink dusty skies at the days’ end, and that visceral feeling that connects you to someone inexplicably; an unknowable mystery exists between the lines and languages, one that's delicate and hazy as the wine itself.
Although her uncle is a winemaker, Arianna blazed her own trail, working hard to independently build a winery that could pay tribute to her home. This is a most honest, golden wine of place, and a too-thin slice of one of my favorites on earth. It’s such a pleasure to share it with you, serve cold in a warm kitchen and drink it while you cook.
60% Zibibbo + 40% Albanello, two varieties native to Sicily; spontaneous fermentation, bottled unfiltered.
