Paolo Bea Montefalco Rosso Riserva "Vigneto Pipparello" Umbria, Italy 2011

$ 102.00
The Wine: This is the classic Montefalco blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Montepulciano - it’s a big, dense, brooding wine that’s still has elegance and nuance, and it will age for decades.

The Producer: Paolo Bea is a tiny, classic Italian fattoria, producing wine, raising farm animals, and truly working the land. The Bea family raises and produces much of what they consume on a daily basis, including olives, fruits and vegetables. Paolo is the force behind these ultra-singular intense wines. Bea wines are historic, Italian greats, and would classify as Grand Cru if there was such a system in Italy; Paolo's son Giampiero is at the helm of legendary winemaking that results in these terroir-driven, increasingly hard to get wines. He’s also a really special person, and this wine is just spiritual.
